CraFT virtual DMA

The Composite Response and
Fourier Transforms code

What is CraFT ?

CraFT (« Composite response and Fourier Transforms » or « Crystals and Fourier Transform ») is a program to compute the mechanical response of heterogeneous materials.

It is based on an original idea initiated by Pierre Suquet (1990) and further developed in Moulinec Suquet (1994). The method has been fully described in Moulinec Suquet (1998) and in Michel Moulinec Suquet (2001).

It solves the Lippmann-Schwinger equation associated to the solid mechanics local equilibrium equations expressed in terms of a Green operator. For computational efficiency, the Lippmann-Schwinger equation can be solved in Fourier domain.

CraFT virtual DMA is a special version of CraFT dedicated to simulate DMA experiments on composites made of viscoelastic materials. Having recourse to the correspondence principle, it gives access to the effective conservative and dissipative moduli of any heterogenous material described through a voxel grid. CraFT (v 1.0-2014) has been developed by Alice Labé, Hervé Moulinec, Pierre Suquet  in the french laboratory « Laboratoire de Mécanique et d’Acoustique » (LMA), in Marseille France.
CraFT (v1.2-2020) has been developed by Guylaine Boittin, Hervé Moulinec, Fabrice Silva (LMA, Marseille, France).
CraFT has been extended to work in virtual DMA mode by Julien Boisse, Stéphane André (2017, LEMTA, Nancy, France)
