The scientific actions of the research team “Gestion de la Chaleur” – Heat management – (OS GC) aim to improve the performance of energy systems, to optimize their integration within global multi-physical systems, and to study systemic architectures in order to recover and enhance waste heat.
Its experimental and modeling activities are based on several thermal studies:
- The characterization of thermal properties of different materials, more and more complex (anisotropic, porous, semi-transparent, …), and in extreme thermal conditions, where the modes of heat transfer are strongly coupled;
- The scientific and/or technical-economic analysis of innovative recovery systems (ORC, Stirling, …), heat storage systems (thermocline, submerged mines, …), and heat management systems (heat exchangers, heat pipes, …);
- The development of analytical and numerical modeling of the studied objects, by direct or inverse methods, associated with experimental work, in order to design some sizing and diagnostic tools (fault detection, non-destructive test, …), among other things.
Research work of the team OS GC is therefore part of a global approach to developing experimental tools (thermal characterization platform, advanced thermal measurement equipment, …) and numerical tools (virtual sensors, …), in order to apprehend the study of energy systems of tomorrow, within more complex multi-physical and multi-size systems.
The team therefore finds its full place in the “Energy Vectors” group, through interdisciplinary studies gathering the three vectors of heat, hydrogen and electricity. With the highly applicative potential of its works, the team OS GC naturally relies on many industrial, but also academic, collaborations, at regional, national and international scales.
